    Raynauds plaquenil

Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia.

May 25, 2010 Hi! I think Plaquenil is the cause of my extreme fatigue too. I am not anemic at this time and I get exhausted just trying to get through the day. I have also been on Plaquenil about three months. All of my arthritis swelling and pain are gone, but the fatigue will not let up! Hope things change for you. I was prescribed the anti-malaria drug Plaquenil to help control the pain. So far I've been on the drug about a month. I have noticed slight improvement but not enough to get excited about yet. I was told it would take four to six weeks to really be effective. Anyway, a condition of Lupus is Raynaud's phenomenon. The drug I take does absolutely. Plaquenil has been a life-saving drug for me, quite literally. I was a mess in 2004-2005 and then a dr put me on Plaquenil, and in 3 weeks most of my symptoms had disappeared. Within 2 months they were all completely gone, though my bloodwork continued to show very high levels of autoimmune stuff.

Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

Primary Raynaud’s phenomenon is typically reversible within 15-20 minutes after rewarming, he added. Aggravators Stress, trauma, smoking, certain drugs Besides cold temperatures, another important aggravating factor in primary Raynaud’s phenomenon is emotional stress. Raynaud's phenomenon is a blood vessel disorder. The condition is also called Raynaud's disease or Raynaud's syndrome. When healthy people are in a cold environment, the tiny blood vessels in their skin constrict, or narrow. This is an effort by the body to conserve heat. Re Lupus & Raynauds the rashes on face and chin and the itching sounds like Lupus symptoms for sure. you need to get your rheumy to get you on Paquenil as soon as possible. it will not help real quick. but will in the long term.
