    I took plaquenil for a while and it helped to reduce the duration/severity of the flairs, but I still had them. Both these drugs can take up to 3 months to begin to work. Plaqenil didn't stop my flare ups, but did ease some of the symptoms. It might also be worth checking what brand you have, as there are many posts on here about adverse reaction to a cheaper brand.
